Leveraging Analytics to Select the Next Satellite Studio

When the Metro Ballet set out to expand its footprint, the challenge wasn’t just finding a new studio space, it was identifying the right location to serve families, strengthen community access, and ensure sustainable growth.

The organization’s leadership wanted a location that balanced artistic mission with practical reach: convenient for parents shuttling between work and school, accessible within typical evening drive times, and aligned with Houston’s evolving population patterns.

Linear A designed a data-driven framework to bring precision to that search. The analysis began at the neighborhood level, combining demographic profiles, youth population density, income, and growth trends. These insights were integrated with real-world travel models that captured how long it takes families to reach a site during key after-school and evening hours. Competitive studios and existing student origins were layered in to visualize market saturation and reveal untapped potential.

The results pointed decisively toward one standout submarket in an area with high concentrations of target-age households, strong household growth, and optimal 10- to 20-minute evening access. It represented not only immediate opportunity but a durable, long-term position for the Ballet’s continued expansion.

Through this process, data moved from a static report to a clear strategic roadmap. The Metro Ballet emerged with a confident shortlist, a phased rollout plan, and actionable insight into where future facilities can have the greatest impact on advancing both access to the arts and organizational growth.
